A selection of my photographs of the retrofittted turbine-powered Convair 580s, 600s and 640s


Convair 580 N900WC in passenger service with Puerto Rico International Airlines PRINAIR at St Thomas, US Virgin Islands
in October 1981. This aircraft was built as a CV.340 and delivered new to Australia in 1954 as VH-BZD for Ansett Airways.


N5599J was another former Ansett Airways CV.340 (VH-BZG) sold back to US and rebuilt with Allisons as a Convair 580.
Seen at Marana, Arizona in November 1981 while flying passenger charter with Pacific National Airways.

Tucson aircraft modification company Hamilton Aviation specialised in parts support for the Convair series.
